Acupuncture marketing: New patients and revenue, tied to the spend.

Without marketing spend tied to new patients and revenue in the EHR, you’re flying blind. Scaling is nearly impossible when you don’t know if your marketing is actually working.

Measurement

How do you know it produced patients?

This is the rule we hire against, and the rule we expect to be judged by. Generic agencies report the numbers that sit in the ad account.

01

What is the test for an agency?

Point from a dollar of spend to a new patient, and from that patient to the revenue the practice collected. Clicks, leads, and click-through rate can sit in the same report. The patient and the revenue are the figures the decision uses.

02

Why does the EHR matter?

The appointment is recorded there, and so is the payment. An agency that has never asked which system you use is reporting from the ad platform alone. That report can be accurate about the click and silent about the patient.

03

How does a course of treatment change the math?

Acupuncture is paid across a series of visits. A lead that never books costs money. A patient who completes a plan is the revenue. Return has to follow the person from the first click to the bill. Building that connection is ordinary work for a partner and a rare question for a generic agency.

04

What did that look like for Princeton Acupuncture?

Instant-form leads were cheap and break-even at best. An on-site back-pain assessment, then a rebuilt page behind it, took first-month return on ad spend to 9:1 and the six-month average to 4.2×. Cost per lead fell −86% after the redesign. The number that mattered was the return, counted on patients the practice could see.

The published account is the Princeton Acupuncture case study. The service these numbers support is acupuncture marketing.

Common questions

Questions from practice owners.

How do I measure the ROI of acupuncture marketing?
Break the return down by channel, and by campaign when the lead records one. For SEO, track what you spend, which leads came from search, how many of those leads became patients, and the revenue from those patients. For paid ads, keep Google, Meta, and TikTok on separate lines, and give every other channel you run a line of its own. Each line is spend, leads, patients, and revenue, followed through the course of treatment in the EHR.
Why is cost per lead not enough?
Cost per lead tells you which form fills were cheapest. It ends before a patient books and before the practice collects for a course of visits. Cheap leads can be break-even. The useful number is the revenue from the patients those leads became.
What if our EHR cannot connect to the marketing?
An Excel sheet, a Google Doc, or the CRM can hold the tie from marketing spend to revenue. Filling that report in by hand is a normal way to do it. A direct connection from the EHR is uncommon. The data is worth its weight in gold.
